Galithea Excellence Award for Kayak Company (30/12/2020)
KayakenCamino, the first sea kayak company to operate along the world-famous Camino de Santiago was honoured by an Excellence Award in the Province of Galithea, Spain, at the end of 2019, the award ceremony taking place at the end of 2020. The proud owners and operators par excellence Carlos and Retha Blanco-Lopez dedicated their award to those who contributed to the success of their venture, brainchild of Johan and Teresa Loots of REAL CAPE KAYAK ADVENTURES in South Africa who originally scouted the route and identified the possibilities and whose production company provides the PaddleYak Kayaks used on the week-long tour. Those doing the famous Camino hiking trail can now also paddle a section of the route, from O Grove to Padron, re-joining the pilgrims on the last day's walk into Santiago de Compestela to the ancient Cathedral, carrying their paddles. The tours are run from June to September each year and was even run during 2020, proving its popularity and the tenacity of the the operators. The Spanish-based company is reciprocating their South African connection by now also offering tours to South Africa which includes the two-day Cape Kayak Camino set up in Plettenberg Bay by the the resourceful Loots family and Real Cape Kayak Adventures to complement the successful Blanco-Lopez operation in Spain. The South African tour run by Real Cape Adventures now also offers an optional two week extension to include a week in Cape Town, the world's most beautiful city and a week in the Garden Route, based in Plettenberg Bay, recently voted Africa's most prestigious and popular nature and beach destination. Kayaking is the main focus but there is a good balance between it and also experiencing the best of what these areas have to offer, including optional shark cage diving, game drives, etc. Move over Knysna and Storms River; Plettenberg Bay is the true centre of the Garden Route and the jewel in the crown of the Tsitsikama coast, offering kayaking on the Indian Ocean, the Plettenberg Bay lagoon and the most stunning natural phenomenon in South Africa, the Keurbooms Gorge, best experienced by kayak. The Loots family has spent most of their lives in the Cape and Plettenberg Bay, which takes their tours and the experiences they offer to another level. Dont miss what they offer, it's the real thing. For more information, contact REAL CAPE KAYAK ADVENTURES at firstname.lastname@example.org or ph 0825562520.
